Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does it feel like?

Tixel is well-tolerated. Many patients can be treated without anesthetic. Use of chilled air and topical numbing may increase patient comfort. Most patients report feeling heat at the treatment site. They occasionally report a mild sharp sensation that they describe as like microneedling, but less intense.

  • What is the Tixel?

Tixel is the first and only Thermal-Mechanical Action Technology, for superior skin resurfacing results on all skin types – No lasers. No needles. No radiation. No pain. No social downtime. Tixel utilizes heat and tiny titanium pyramid tips. These tips are quickly pressed onto the skin to stimulate collagen.

  • Are there Adverse Effects?

Tixel is safe with our well-trained team, but like any skin treatment, there are possible risks such as temporary swelling, prolonged redness, pain, scabbing, peeling, pigmentation changes, sun sensitivity, burns, scars, and infections.

  • How long is Downtime?

Tixel treatment keeps the outer skin layer intact, minimizing downtime. Lower settings mean less downtime, and individual responses vary based on settings, genetics, post-care, and skin health. Mild swelling and roughness for 5-7 days are common, with makeup allowed after 24 hours. Most resume normal activities within hours after treatment.

  • How Many Treatments does it take?

For skin rejuvenation, we recommend 3 treatments, scheduled once every 4 to 6 weeks, followed by one to two maintenance treatments within the year. If you are treating a more difficult issue, like acne scarring, or you are using lower settings, it may take more treatments.
